Hughes to depart Edmonton Journal
Linda Hughes, publisher of the Edmonton Journal, will retire on Jan. 1. Hughes became publisher of the paper in 1992. Her career began 30 years ago as a reporter at the Victoria Daily News. She then joined the Edmonton Journal as a reporter. Later she headed the paper’s legislative bureau and served on its editorial board. Hughes also held the positions of city editor and managing editor before becoming editor-in-chief in 1987.
