Via Rail holds Beat the Car contest

Montreal-based Via Rail Canada has begun an online contest at a new website located at <>. The contest is aimed at 18- to 35-year olds. Visitors to the site can enter by editing one of four posters from Via’s most recent ad campaign to include a new photograph or caption. The user-created ads will then be posted to the site for public voting. The contest will run until Sept. 5. Prizes will be awarded to the top-rated English and French entries. The grand prize is a trip to Montreal and a $2,000 Via travel credit. “We decided on an Internet-based contest because the possibilities in the online world are virtually unlimited,” said Steve Del Bosco, chief customer officer at Via. “We believe the site will gain a lot of traction over the summer as people see how easy to use it is and how much fun can be had. The interactive nature of the site will enable contestants to create a wide variety of clever and entertaining ads for everyone to enjoy and rate while earning a chance to win one of the many prizes we are offering.”
