Mazda North American Operations to hire WPP Group

Mazda North American Operations is in contract negotiations with WPP Group to retain the firm as its full-service marketing communications agency. Mazda selected WPP after an agency review involving an unknown number of contenders, including incumbent Doner. The assignment includes marketing and communications support for Mazda's US, Canadian and Mexican operations.  WPP has handled the Mazda Motor Europe account for 12 years. "We undertook an agency review as a process check, to ensure our company is properly positioned for substantial growth in North America as well as globally," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. "While each one of the agencies we interviewed had unique qualifications, WPP has the broadest set of assets that best fit Mazda's global needs."
