White Ribbon Campaign conducts awareness promotion
The White Ribbon Campaign conducted a promotion in Toronto last week intended to raise awareness of the organization's annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" fundraising event. On Sept. 9, a group of male promotional workers ran on a treadmill in high-heeled shoes and distributed information about the event at Union Station. "There is an old saying," said Nick Rodrigue, director of development for the White Ribbon Campaign. "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Our annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event is a fun way to raise awareness about something that’s not at all funny; gender relations and sexual violence." The promotion was developed pro-bono by Free for All Marketing, with the participation of the Allan Candy Company and Environics Communications. The walk take place on Sept. 30.
