Portuguese Cork Association retains DDB Public Relations

The Portuguese Cork Association has hired DDB Public Relations as its communications agency of record in North America. The agency will work to raise awareness of and demand for Portuguese cork floor coverings. The assignment will include a communications campaign aimed at consumers, design specialists, media and retailers. DDB is now developing a media relations and social media program, along with website optimization and point-of-purchase materials.

The association hired DDB Public Relations after an agency review that included 17 agencies from Canada and the United States. DDB worked with the association in 2010 on an 18-month communications campaign promoting cork flooring.

"DDB PR's home decor and design credentials and proven business-building track record are very impressive, and we felt their creative approach with this program is just what we need to create buzz in the marketplace," said Steve Caldow, a member of the association's North American committee. "We are looking forward to partnering with them again to re-invigorate this flooring category in North America."
