CBC begins Twitter hockey promotion
CBC has begun a joint promotion with Twitter Canada and Budweiser in support of Hockey Night in Canada. During the promotion, CBC will provide what it describes as near-instant video highlights of NHL hockey games through the social media service. The clips will be extracted from live television broadcasts using technology from online video company SnappyTV. The initiative is an extention of Budweiser's existing media sponsorship of CBC that also includes Coach's Corner and Hockey Night in Canada: Second Screen. According to CBC, this is the first promotion of its kind it has undertaken.
