Tim Hortons begins Duelling Donuts contest

Tim Hortons of Oakville, ON has resumed its annual "Duelling Donuts" contest promotion for a third year. The contest invites consumers to submit designs for new donut varieties at <http://www.duellingdonuts.ca>. As a theme this year, entries must be based on a family recipe. Entries will close on July 21.

Eight entrants will be selected to participate in the final stage of the contest, during which they will travel to the company's headquarters to present their designs to a celebrity judging panel. The panel will select four entries, after which public voting will determine two designs to go on sale next year. The designer of the most popular donut, as determined by sales, will win $10,000.

The contest is being supported with social media activities.

"Last year's contest, with almost 77,000 entries, proved yet again just how much Canadians love their donuts, and we think this year's Duelling Donuts contest will be our biggest and best yet," said David Clanachan, president and COO of Tim Hortons Canada. "This year, we're looking for inspiration from Canadians' kitchens, and to make it easier to bring unique recipes to life, entrants can now add their own ingredients to the list. We're looking forward to featuring our two finalist donuts in Tim Hortons restaurants for Canadians to vote on with their taste buds."
