Airbnb begins promotion in Toronto

San Francisco-based online accommodation listings company Airbnb has begun a promotion called "The Airbnb Bus" in Toronto. During July, a branded bus will visit a series of locations in the city to promote the use of the service in Canada. Promotional events will offer information about the service and the range of accommodations available through it. The promotion is intended to contrast travel accommodations secured through Airbnb with a more typical tourist experience in another city.

"Hosting is in the DNA of Canadians," said Aaron Zifkin, country manager for Canada at Airbnb. "As Canadians, we are hospitable people at our core. When Airbnb was founded in 2008, the vision was to create a world where people can belong anywhere. Canadian hospitality lends itself extremely well to home sharing, and that's what has quickly made Canada a leading marketplace, especially during major events and the busy summer travel season."
