Shomi conducts contest promotion

Video streaming service Shomi is conducting a contest promotion in support of its direct-to-consumer launch. Consumers can now access the service's library of television programs via computers, game consoles and mobile devices for a monthly fee, without subscribing to a cable package.

The contest involves promotional workers dressed as various television show characters walking the streets of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto or Halifax. Consumers can enter by taking a photograph of one of these workers and posting it to Twitter or Instagram using a campaign hashtag. Consumers can also enter by submitting photographs of themselves dressed as television characters. The grand prize winner will receive a home entertainment package consisting of a Sony 4K Ultra LED television, a Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet, a Google Chromecast and a one-year subscription to Shomi. The promotion also includes a website at <http://www.shomimovesin.com>.

"Today is an epic day for Canadian entertainment lovers as we deliver on the promise we made to them back in May," said David Asch, senior vice-president and general manager of Shomi. "We announced we would be moving in, and today we've arrived. Shomi is now available to all Canadians."

Shomi is a joint venture of Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications.
