Royal Canadian Mint promotes coin design contest

The Royal Canadian Mint is conducting an advertising campaign encouraging consumers to vote in a coin design contest called "My Canada, My Inspiration." The contest is intended to select designs commemorating the 150th anniversary of Canada for the mint's 2017 issue of coins. Until Oct. 9, Canadians can vote online at <http://www.mint.ca/canada150> for designs divided into five themes: Our Wonders, Our Character, Our Achievements, Our Passions and Our Future. The national promotional campaign, developed by Cossette, includes direct mail, online materials, web banners, videos and social media activities.

"We received thousands of talented and impressive submissions that demonstrate Canadians' pride in their country," said Patrick Hadsipantelis, vice-president of marketing and communication at the Royal Canadian Mint. "Canada's 150th anniversary will be an important moment in our history and we are looking forward to seeing what Canadians feel are the most important themes and symbols to feature on our circulation coins for that year."
