New president at Initiative Canada

Initiative Canada of Toronto has appointed Helen Galanis to the position of president. According to the company, the hiring is intended to strengthen its position in the Canadian market. Galanis was most recently director of brand media planning at Rogers. Prior to that, she was a vice-president and client partner at J3 Canada. She was also strategy and advertising manager at Canadian Tire and a strategy planner at Starcom.

"Helen is the type of media savvy leader who will bring new insights into the organization and set a strategic direction that will be of immediate benefit to Initiative clients," said Harvey Carroll, CEO for Canada at parent company IPG Mediabrands. "She will also bring a relevant and current client perspective to the role. Initiative is poised for immediate growth with our recent changes we're confident Helen will help accelerate the growth we're projecting."
