Becel begins Blend Bar promotion

Unilever Canada has begun a promotion for its Becel margarine brand, focusing on its new recipe with "simpler ingredients" and lack of artificial preservatives, flavours and colours. The initiative makes use of an installation at a Loblaws grocery store in downtown Toronto called the "Blend Bar by Becel." The interactive installation will provide information about the production of the margarine. The effort includes the participation of chef Graham Elliot, who has contributed two recipes, and food expert Rose Reisman, who was present at the display on its first day of operation. The promotion will run until March 20.

"Through the Blend Bar by Becel, Canadians can learn about the craftsmanship behind the blending process and experience the journey of how margarine goes from farm to knife," said Reisman. "The journey starts by pressing the plants and seeds into oils. Each oil has its own unique qualities, and by blending these oils to help create margarine, the results offer the best of both worlds, a delicious taste and a source of essential Omega 3 polyunsaturated fat."
