Send&Receive launches in Toronto

A new creative agency called Send&Receive has opened in Toronto. The firm was founded by partners JP Gravina, Simon Craig and Andrew Carty. According to the company, it will "offer a modern model designed to meet the needs of today's client, in an industry that [is] increasingly about project work." The firm has also committed to using ten percent of its earnings to support outside creative projects such as crowdfunding initiatives, start-up firms and film productions.

Gravina was most recently a creative director at SJP Creative, an associate creative director a BBDO and Lowe Roche, and an art director at Extreme Group. He has also worked at Bensimon Byrne, Sharpe Blackmore Euro RSCG and ACLC.

Craig was also a creative director at SJP Creative most recently. Prior to that, he was an associate creative director at John St., BBDO and Lowe Roche.

Carty was previously vice-president of strategy and innovation at Grey Canada. He was also director of strategy at Union Creative and a strategic planner at Lowe Roche. He has also worked at OgilvyOne and MacLaren McCann.

"It was clear to us that we had to change our output, and to do so we really had to change the way we operate, the way we work, the way we bill, our whole structure really," said Carty. "Part of the solution became a full-service, project-based agency with working partners and billing based on output instead of retainer hours."
