Google begins retail promotion with Best Buy
Google Canada has begun a retail promotion in association with electronics chain Best Buy. Google-branded "stores within stores" have been installed in four Canadian Best Buy locations in Mississauga, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The stores will display a range of Google products, including the Pixel smartphone, Daydream View virtual reality headsets and Chromecast Ultra laptops. The stores also offer promotional workers who can provide product information, daily workshops about Google technology and seasonal special events.
Smaller Google-branded installations have been located in 10 Best Buy stores since October, but, according to the company, this is the first time Google has conducted a retail promotion on this scale in North America. The opening of these stores coincides with Best Buy's recent renovation program.
"We're proud of the collaboration with Best Buy and their new Experience Stores, particularly as the concept aims to enhance the traditional way of shopping and aligns with Google's immersive approach," said Janell Fischer, director of retail marketing at Google. "Google shops bring a whole new way for shoppers to experience and interact with our products, complete with trained Google guides who will be onsite to offer one-on-one tech help."
