Canadian Tire releases commemorative loyalty note
Toronto-based retail chain Canadian Tire has begun a promotional initiative tied to the 150th anniversary of Canada. The company has introduced a redesigned limited edition 10-cent version of its Canadian Tire "Money" loyalty program notes. Two million of the notes will be distributed in its stores nationally between June 30 and July 2. The new note, printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company, is designed to look like real Canadian currency and incorporates a number of the same security features, including gold foil and a watermark. This is the first update to the style of these notes since 1992.
"Canadian Tire 'Money' is incredibly recognizable and iconically Canadian," said Eva Salem, vice-president of marketing at Canadian Tire. "We wanted to celebrate Canada 150 in a meaningful way by creating a limited edition bill that brings a beloved Canadian classic into the modern era."
