Ontario Minor Hockey Association conducts campaign
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has begun a marketing campaign called "Long-Term People Development" in that province. This is the first time the group has conducted a marketing initiative. The month-long campaign includes community newspaper advertising, online banners, content marketing and public relations. The creative focuses on hockey as a way for young players to build character and gain personal values. The effort is timed to coincide with the start of try-outs for the 2018 season. It was developed in-house, based on branding created by Brandfire Marketing Group.
"We believe hockey plays a critical role in the development of our youth," said Ian Taylor, executive director of the association. "Parents see the values it instills and the stronger communities built around it, so we want to provide the right start, allowing our beginner players to enjoy the game and benefit from the life lessons our sport teaches. While best recognized for administering minor hockey in Ontario, the OMHA has broader priorities and we expect this campaign will share a meaningful story."
