ICA readies Effie Canada awards

The Toronto-based Institute of Communication Agencies has formed an agreement with Effie Worldwide of New York to create a new annual awards program called Effie Canada. The program will replace the existing Cassies Awards, operated by the ICA and the Association of Creative Communications Agencies since 1993. The previous North American Effies program will be divided into Effie Canada and Effie United States. The awards will recognize achievement in communications and advertising effectiveness. The first call-for-entries for the new awards will be issued in the fall.

"The ICA, in partnership with Effie Worldwide, is proud to launch Effie Canada," said Scott Knox, president and CEO of the ICA. "Becoming part of the Effie program, a globally recognized and celebrated awards competition, will put a bright spotlight on Canada's most effective brands and agencies and their work to help promote the value of our industry."
