Investment Funds Institute begins awareness campaign

The Toronto-based Investment Funds Institute of Canada has begun an online campaign encouraging investors to open their investment statements and educate themselves about their money. The effort includes an online video featuring financial literacy expert Jane Rooney. The video is part of a larger campaign intended to educate consumers about the investment funds industry. The campaign uses the tagline "It's your money. Find out more."

"By mid-July of this year, every investor will have received two new annual reports from their investment dealer, under a new rule called the Client Relationship Model, that provide personalized information on the performance of their investments and the fees that they pay," said Paul Bourque, president and CEO of the institute. "The industry sees the introduction of these new reports as an ideal opportunity to remind investors that they should be taking time on a regular basis to understand their investments and talk to their advisors. Jane Rooney is a passionate advocate for financial literacy and her support for this campaign highlights the value of being an informed investor."

The Investment Funds Institute of Canada represents 150 fund managers, distributors and investment industry service organizations.
